THE GREY

Saw The Grey, Liam Neeson’s movie about some crash survivors who have to fight off a pack of wolves. The thriller aspects of the movie worked best–the sections devoted to how the characters stay alive; these scenes, as well as the plane crash, are often heart stopping. Unfortunately, the characters also have to open their mouths and the movie tends to sink whenever that happens–the wolves handle their lines much better. In spite of all the gobbledegook the authors give characters to say, they still can’t create an emotional connection with the audience. The surprise ending doesn’t really do anything but confuse the situation and it’s a bit unclear what the whole point is. See Lifeboat, Sahara or The Flight of the Phoenix instead.
